Another Winning Year
The Greenwich YWCA Dolphins Swim Team had another excellent year, including two Olympic Trial Qualifiers – Kate Hazlett and Meghan Lynch.
For the second consecutive year, Greenwich YWCA Dolphins Swim Team was recognized as a Silver Club by USA Swimming. The Dolphins Swim Team consistently ranks in the top four percent of all swim clubs in the country.
18th Annual Greenwich Town Swimming Championships
Over 250 swimmers from the Greenwich YWCA Dolphins, Greenwich YMCA Marlins, Greenwich Boys and Girls Club and Sharks swim teams took to the pool at Greenwich High School for what has developed into a wet holiday tradition hosted by Greenwich YWCA Dolphins. The 18th Annual Greenwich Town Swimming Championships concluded with 60 events being contested in age groups from 8-and-under to 15-and-over over three days of friendly, yet, fierce competition among the area teams.
For many who share the same hallways in school this is one of the few times all year they see each other in the same pool. “That is what makes this meet so special. The fact that everyone knows each other makes the competition that more intense,” commented Dolphins Coach Nick Cavataro, who acted as the meet director.

2019 Sunkissed Junior/Senior Championships
Sparked by three division high point awards and more than 48 medals, including 28 gold medal efforts, the Greenwich YWCA Dolphins Swim Team closed out the 2019 Sunkissed Junior-Senior Swimming Championships of the USA with a decisive second place finish.
The Dolphins contingent accumulated 1,984-points, in the three and one-half day, 60-event program. The meet formally known as the YWCA National Championship meet, was held at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina.
Keeping Children Safe
Greenwich YWCA Dolphins will participate in the new USA Swimming MAAPP (Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy). The policy sets a baseline for acceptable safety standards that limit one-on-one interactions between adults and minor athletes. It also includes policies that address social media and electronic communications, and guidelines for travel policies, including local and team, locker rooms and changing areas and massages, rubdowns and athletic training modalities.
These guidelines will also be expanded to youth fitness programs in FY’20.
